Life is Not That Serious…

Daily writing prompt
What’s something most people don’t understand?

When I first read this prompt, it felt like I was being attacked with ideas to write about, without looking at its core.

Life is not that serious.

It’s a hard lesson to learn and practice, as it involves the art of relinquishing control. Understanding that you’re no longer in control makes life incredibly easier. You can reach out to friends, colleagues, strangers, etc., more easily when you accept that you have no control.

You have no control of individuals’ perceptions.

You have no control of any outcomes.

You have no control.

For example… Today, you decided you wanted to go to the gym and have coffee before heading to work when, all of a sudden, your alarm broke overnight, and you didn’t wake up on time. You are not in control. You go to grab coffee, but the coffee shop is closed for maintenance. You are not in control. Finally, on your way to work, your train is delayed, and you are late. You are not in control.

All of these external factors happened that you cannot control.

To bring it back to life being not serious, this is because every single person you see is in the same position you are. They have no control of their life, so how can they dictate yours?

Allowing yourself to realize that no one is truly in control can only mean that we are all trying our best to survive and present a facade where we do have that control.

Life is not that serious. Things change without control, and there is nothing you can do but pivot. Repeating to yourself that life is not that serious will help you open those gates that encourage you to take risks and make decisions you would have never thought to do.

I have a small request. Please listen to ‘Echo of My Shadow’ by Aurora. This song is about closing a chapter in your life and stepping into a new one. I hope while you read this post and listen to this song, you are able to worry less and realize that life is not that serious and you will begin your new chapter with one filled with less anxiety and stress.
